Preparing a blog for Google News
Last Updated on Friday, 18 December 2009 05:03 Written by Mike Friday, 18 December 2009 02:21
It’s come to my attention that a fair amount of traffic can be had if your blog is approved for Google News. With that in mind this blog post will attempt to chronicle the steps necessary in order to to have your blog approved for Google news consumption. one important thing to keep in mind here is that news will not just index or accept any content.
Google is rather picky about what they except for syndication, they look at a few factors to determine which news sources to accept. After all if they were not picky Google News would be full of spam and junk and no one would be interested in what was there. Instead you must create a trustworthy and useful news resource.
Of course, not just any site will be accepted into Google News, it is recommend that you should be producing real news content on a daily basis. this should be done before you even consider submitting your site to the Google News service. We don’t want to see SEO shams competing to get past the editorial filters.
Okay, Now that that’s out of the way let’s take a look at the technical requirements:
- You can help the Google crawler gather articles correctly by ensuring that each that displays articles full text has a unique URL that ever changes. Google will not include sites in Google News at this point multiple copies of the same articles at the same URL.
- The URL for each article also should contain a unique number consisting of at least three digits.
- Remember that Google cannot include sites for which the URL of your main page includes the date. URLs with dates in them often change. This prevents Google from crawling the site for new content, as Google is unable to detect the most current URL to be crawled.
- Google’s automated bot works best when it is crawling with regular HTML links. Google is still unable to crawl image links or links embedded within JavaScript.
In addition to the technical requirements you must still make a case as to why your blog should be accepted. You could do this by providing relevant information about the site including the historical background, describing any awards site has received. In addition you wish to provide stats about the site. You can also discuss who links to your site (especially popular sites). In addition make sure you have news related or mostly news related content.

Adsense keywords what are they really worth?
Last Updated on Monday, 15 June 2009 01:56 Written by Mike Sunday, 14 June 2009 10:35
A very subjective topic. Adsense keywords all vary tremendously. Depending on niche, keyword, or phrase they can vary from a few pennies to $10 or $20 or more. Generally speaking, adsense keywords are valued based on their popularity. The more competition for the keyword, the more it will cost advertisers to ‘place’ the adword ad.
The flip side of that adword ad. Is your adsense account. You will earn around half of the advertisers cost for that click. So it would make sense for a blogger or webmaster to target the valuable and profitable keywords.
The next step in making good $$$ with adsense? CTR or click through ratio. This is based on how many ads are shown in proportion to how many clicks you log.
On the forums I have been frequenting CTR of %2.5 to %5 or more are considered excellent. Good writing, popular topics, correct adsense placement on page and proper SEO efforts can get you there.
Stay tuned for more on this Adsense experiment.

Last Updated on Monday, 15 June 2009 01:56 Written by Mike Saturday, 13 June 2009 04:18
Yesterdays article on the highest price adsense keywords was cool. After a little more reading I felt it was appropriate to include this list of the most profitable, or revenue/click generating keywords.
Targeting high paying keywords is crucial to succeed in making money with Adsense. Not all keywords are the same. Different keywords pay different amounts. Different keywords in different niche markets also pay differently. If your blog is not targeting the “profitable” keywords you will probably be earning less money per Adsense click than you should be. You can do the keyword research using tools like Keyword Country.
Here is the list of the most PROFITABLE AdSense keywords:

Typically you would see %50 of the number given above credited to your Adsense account. There are ways to do this effectively, blogging and targeting keywords seems to be pretty popular, and not too difficult to understand. Reports are all over the internet how so and so makes $15,000 a month in Adsense revenue. Really? I want to find out if this is true and share this with my readers.
The most important part of the game is “relevancy”. Don’t add content pages about irrelevant keywords to your blog just because they are high paying. Instead look for high paying keywords targeted around the theme of your site.
Also Keep in mind we are going to try for the long tail stuff. Using a combination of the keywords in this list combined with keywords that you would normally find on your blog.
Good Luck out there!
