I love my iPad, it was bought as a tool to do live music mixing. I purchased a Mackie DL1608 for my bands live mixing needs. Playing around with the iPad is a perk of that job.
Soon I found myself using the iPad while laying on the couch watching TV. It should also be pointed out that I am a diehard PC user. Having never purchased an Apple product in my life. On the other hand working for the local ISP as a Internet Technician trouble shooting Road Runner ISP connection issues, I do have extensive experience using OS X.
What I needed though, was a way to access my Google Gtalk application, I know there are many multi IM messaging apps out there. I only use Gtalk, and Talkatone seems to have the market cornered when it comes to iOS devices. Installation was a breeze and the price cannot be beat. It’s free and supported by ads. You also have the option of purchasing an upgrade to remove the ads.
Facebook Contact Sync – Facebook contacts and Chat works well within the app. If your friends are sharing their phone numbers, they will be imported into your contacts as well. Pretty Slick I must say.
The premium features that make the app even better, Support for multiple Google accounts. Multiple phone numbers? Yup! Claimed better audio quality, No more ads and priority customer service. At $1.99 for the first month you could try it to see if you like it. There are also options to purchase 6 month and 1 year subscription terms. In addition there is a 14 day free trial.
If you use multiple Google accounts for voice communications this app should be worth it’s price ten times over what you will end up paying for the service. In short order the days of land line telephones and paying through the nose for telecommunications will be a thing of the past. Get started with Talkatone today. Even the free version rocks, and so what a couple of ads here and there are not too much of an annoyance to this user.
One thing I would do is to make sure your Talkatone app is not broadcasting a status message, or that its status message is not updating concurrently with your Gmail browser session or your Android smart phone’s app.
